Obvious challenge at the start  - -  after 10mins flat, 30mins continuous uphill  - -  steep enough for me to be cycling at my limit.

Then the reward  - -  sunny day, smooth road surface, no headwind, gentle hills, great views  - -  high average speed.
Rolled into Cork early afternoon, completing approximately the first half of my cycling lap of Ireland.
Next, a few days as a tourist, then the sailing lap begins.
